Brewhouse Sustainable Building with LEED AP Services
Refurbishment of Historic 3 Storey Building in Kilkenny
The Brewhouse building which holds historic value as the centre of brewing for 50 years is located on the former Smithwicks (Diageo) Brewery Site in Kilkenny City adjacent to the original Abbey which is an area of conservation. Originally constructed in the 1960’s the renovation and refurbishment of this 3 storey building forms part of the regeneration of the overall site (20 acres) of Abbey Quarter.
A very sustainable approach by Lawler Consulting was taken on this project by retaining and redeveloping a substantially naturally ventilated multi-let premium office space which is approx 4,500m². The site is located adjacent to the River Nore and environmental constraints are a feature of the design of this project.
The office accommodation raidates from an imposing central atrium, a space that once housed the original maturation brewing tanks.
