Brown Thomas

Established in 1849 by haberdashers and drapers, Hugh Brown and James Thomas, Brown Thomas is a name that is synonymous with luxury, integrity, and beauty. Brown Thomas Grafton Street is Ireland’s number one premium shopping destination.
The 15,000m2 Dublin store is the chain’s flagship store and consists of five levels over a basement of international designer retail space including Gucci, Burberry, Prada, Hermes, Chanel, Tiffany, Dolce & Gabbana, Louis Vuitton & Ralph Lauren to name a few. It is part of the global retail family which includes Selfridges in the UK, Hold Renfrew in Canada, and de Bijenkorf in Holland.

For this project we designed, tendered and project managed the upgrade of lighting, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, life safety, sprinkler, IT, CCTV, and intruder alarm systems. There were several challenges with this project including executing the works outside normal trading hours, integration of new systems with existing & also to deliver the Client’s desire to maximise floor to ceiling height which pushed the boundaries of service design and required a high level of co-ordination. Attention to detail, careful selection of system components to ensure minimal impact of services on finished ceilings & millwork was a prerequisite of our appointment.

Lawler Consulting has worked in Brown Thomas stores in Dublin, Limerick, Cork, and Galway carrying out both refurbishment & energy upgrade projects.
