Dublin City Council Sports and Fitness Centres
When Lawler Consulting’s sister company Lawler Sustainability won Ireland’s first publicly tendered Energy Performance Contract (EPC), we were commissioned to make a number of changes to mechanical and electrical systems in three sports and fitness centre buildings in Dublin City.
Changes made to these buildings included replacements of all lamps and fittings in all areas of the three buildings to energy efficient models. Upgraded heat pumps and boilers in order to reduce on building energy consumption. Heating, lighting and water have all been connected to Building Management Systems. This system will keep close track of usage in the building and have been set to timers and sensors to ensure systems are being used efficiently.
Just one year into this project and savings are already calculated to be as high as- 38% through these mechanical and electrical changes. This should result in a saving of €165,000 per year or €1.3 million over the life of the eight year contract.
