About WuXi Biologics

WuXi Biologics is a global Contract Research, Development, and Manufacturing Organisation offering end-to-end solutions that enable partners to discover, develop, and manufacture biologics.

WuXi Biologics Dundalk Facility

WuXi Biologics invested €325 Million in a new Biologics facility in Dundalk, Co. Louth.

This new 54,232 Square Metres biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility is the second phase of the existing 20.74-hectare overall site.

The state-of-the-art manufacturing facility will feature single-use bioreactors for commercial biomanufacturing, as well as next-generation processing technology.  It will be the second WuXi Biologics manufacturing facility outside of China and is expected to help accelerate biologics development in Europe.

Construction of this state-of-art facility began back in 2019 and is edging closer and closer to being fully complete.

The project received strong support and back from IDA Ireland and Louth County Council and the facility has already created 400 permanent jobs. This figure is expected to rise to 600 jobs by the end of 2024.

M&E Design

Lawler Consulting was the M&E design consultant on the project.

Lawler Consulting was responsible for the design of HVAC BU systems associated with the plant as well as public health systems for the building.

Lawler Consulting was also involved in the design of the MV/LV electrical systems including DRUPS, Generator, and UPS design.

Our team also designed the containment systems, LV power, normal task lighting, emergency lighting, ICT, and ELV systems.

Lastly, our team was tasked with producing LOD 400 BIM for all the systems included in our design remit.

As with all of our M&E design projects, we employed ‘hidden services’ i.e. mechanical and electrical systems that incorporate seamlessly into the building’s design and are hidden from view while performing to the highest level of functionality and sustainability.
