Throughout the month of December, we decided to make the lead up to Christmas a little bit more exciting by hosting a range of events to get everyone into the Christmas spirit. Although Christmas can be a time of much joy and celebration for many, it can also be a very difficult period for others, especially this year with the current COVID-19 2020 pandemic. With this in mind, we decided to incorporate some fundraising into our festive activities so that we could make a small contribution to those who may be struggling and hopefully make things a little easier for them.
Friday 4th December: The Great Lawler Bake Off
With our super competitive team, we decided not to make this one too combative and hosted a bake sale with an array of delicious treats being made available to employees to purchase, with the price being a small donation to charity.
Friday 11th December: Lawler Santa Run
Next, we hosted a socially distanced Santa Run in the beautiful surroundings of the Castle Park, opposite our Head Office in Kilkenny. We set off on our 4km route, kitted out in our Santa hats and Christmas jumpers, with donations once again being collected for charity. We also had some members of staff participating from further afield virtually! The competition increased as our engineers battled for top spot and the winners deciding on our Christmas Charity so well done:-
- – Ian Molloy, Associate Director
- – Tomás Brett, Project Manager
- – Peter Cody, Project Engineer & Niall Treacy, Design Engineer
Friday 18th December: Best Lawler Christmas Jumper
The Christmas Jumper competition, €2 to enter, is always a favourite and this year was no different with some of our staff getting very creative. Participation was excellent so thank you to all staff for making an effort, and of course well done to Raymond Breen, our Associate Director who was awarded this year’s best Christmas jumper. His prize was a well-deserved day off, although the photographer claims it was all to do with the quality of the picture as the rivalry continued…
Tuesday 22nd December: Lawler Secret Santa
Our festive theme was carried into Christmas week with Secret Santa and some very interesting gifts were exchanged amongst colleagues and some of them are definitely not fit to mention here!
Our Chosen Charities: St. Vincent de Paul & Teac Tom
But a huge thank you to everyone that participated – all donations going locally to St. Vincent de Paul (SVP) Ireland and Teac Tom. The SVP is hugely instrumental in fighting poverty in all forms through practical assistance to people in need. Teac Tom is a charity based locally in Kilkenny which aims to support individuals and their families who have been affected by suicide, or contemplating suicide. Our donations will be split between the two charities by providing 20 food hampers for those in need via SVP, and the rest will going to Teac Tom.
Finally, on behalf of everyone at Lawler Consulting and our sister company Lawler Sustainability, we would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
