Senior Team Promotions
We have reflected on the importance of the leadership of the company as it grows. It is important that we bring senior people into management roles bringing in new voices and leaders. Hopefully it also shows a pathway for advancement at all levels within the company.
Brian O Hanrahan, Denis Phelan, James Long and Raymond Breen have been appointed as Directors within Lawler Consulting with Laura McMahon appointed as Director of Sustainability Consulting. These appointments mark a major milestone in the strengthening of the Company’s management team for the future.
Meet Denis
As a Chartered Mechanical Engineer Denis has been involved in the design and project management of numerous projects for all the various building sectors including educational, public, healthcare, leisure, office and commercial projects in Ireland and UK. His commitment and dedication earned him Associate Director in 2014 and promotion to Director in 2024.
Notable Projects:
- Design lead on the Primary Care Centre PPP bundle with Prime Balfour Beatty / JJ Rhattigan These projects were the first health care centres delivered through PPP in Ireland with a contract valve of over €140 million. These projects were being delivered to BIM level 2 standards. Two sites achieved ICE Construction Excellence awards.
- Multiple Department of Education/ NDFA and Design Build schools in multi site contracts, including rapid build framework and NDFA bundles.
- 78 St James Street London – is a mix of Grade II listed areas (1840) and Cat A office fitout over 9 floors, including basements. The full refit and refunctioning of areas will offer over 110,000 sq ft of office accommodation, a pavilion extension, and rooftop terraces with views across London’s Westminster and Green Park. The historic part of the building is enhanced to offer a wellness suite, a business lounge, and a multi-function room for activities.
He has extensive knowledge of design build projects and provides value engineering solutions for clients. He also has a keen interest in the design of alternative energy systems using environmental simulation software and has a LEED Green Associate accreditation from USGBC.
It was a great recognition by the business to promote senior members of the team to Director including myself. We have some exceptional individuals who have consistently demonstrated outstanding results for the Lawler business. Meet James
With over 17 years of post-qualification experience, James is a seasoned professional in his field. He is responsible for managing large-scale projects in residential, commercial, and international sectors. His commitment and strong work ethic led to his progression becoming a Company Associate in 2018 and later, a Company Director in 2024.
Notable Projects:
- Tom Johnson House, Dublin – Deep retrofit of the Department of Environment’s Head Quarters in Dublin city providing sustainable design solutions for the OPW.
- Rayadah Shopping Mall, Saudi Arabia – Masterplan for 2 storey building designed to host a variety of retail, food, leisure activities and large multi-storey carpark.
- Tesla Centre, Dartford, UK – Full MEP design of showroom including interactive area for customers to customise their cars.
- Centre Parcs Resort, Longford – Design & Build Project with John Sisk & Sons providing MEP design for the entire resort, accommodation, activities and restaurants.
James’s meticulous attention to detail, collaborative spirit, and expertise in sustainable design have been instrumental in creating exceptional facilities, emphasising both sustainability and guest satisfaction.

Meet Brian
With over 34 years working experience, he is one of the company’s most experienced engineers having worked in all building sectors. Brian is responsible for the overall design and project management for projects within the Retail and Commercial sectors.
Notable Projects:
- Lidl Retail Stores, Ireland & N. Ire., providing sustainable design solutions for new and existing stores including PV array.
- Dunnes Stores, Ireland, UK & Spain, full MEP building services design incorporating vertical transportation for new and upgrade of existing stores.
- Supervalu, various stores, full MEP building services design and on-site coordination.
- Maxol Service Stations, various sites, full MEP building services design and full forecourt services.
- Croke Park Stadium, Dublin, full refurbishment of existing Cusack Stand Level 5 Suites & Level 6 Premium Boxes. Full MEP design, also incorporating sustainability elements.
Brian’s ability to provide innovative MEP design solutions that enhance building efficiency and sustainability, empowers clients to build smarter. Brian’s commitment to excellence ensures every project pushes the boundaries of what is achievable whilst minimising environmental impact.
