Lawler Consulting was appointed as mechanical and electrical design engineers at the developed design stage for the entire project incorporating the accommodation in addition to the 5 Star Spa, a bowling alley, numerous bars, and restaurants. This project was delivered entirely through BIM which aided the ambitious programme, and during the early design stage, our teams attended weekly design team workshops.
The resulting mechanical and electrical systems included 42 air handling units (AHUs), 2 megawatts of boiler capacity for 3 swimming pools, 3 CHP units (totalling 800kW thermal load which have the capacity to offset 600 tonnes of C02 annually). During the construction phase of the project, we provided ancillary certification for building control which involved issuing weekly observation reports for the BCAR process. We also issued snag reports to contractors in pre-agreed stages allowing for snag-free handover to the client.
